We believe sleeping on a natural surface is best, which is why we developed our special outer fabric that is used on the Herdysleep mattress. We use wool and plant-based fibres (viscose), woven in our Yorkshire workshop, to create an outer fabric which requires no applied chemicals to achieve the required fire rating. This means you can rest easy in the knowledge that you’re sleeping on something natural.

Wool from the cute and lovable Herdwick sheep lies at the heart of every Herdysleep mattress. Sourced from farmers in the Lake District, at fair trade rates, the Herdwick wool is partnered with fluffy cotton fibres to create a soft, luxurious sleep surface. As well as being naturally flame-resistant and hypoallergenic, wool is highly absorbent and breathable. Also a natural insulator, it helps to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.
